Thanks, Brenda! I'm glad you found the post helpful. I'd love to hear about some of your more positive experiences with change and how you've been able to make progress in that area - might be a worthwhile subject for a guest post here on the blog.

Great topic, Steve! I appreciate your transparency and "breaking down" the elements that keep us stuck, anxious and resistant. As I step out of my personal comfort zone, and have good, even reparative experiences, I'm really starting to believe that "change is good"...well, actually, it's inevitable. So, I'm trying to embrace it. Progress.

Congratulations on your new office.

While we're on the subject of changing your attitude about failure - after posting this today, I was reminded of a great movie from a few years ago: "Meet the Robinsons". Besides just being a lot of fun, the movie's messages about celebrating failure and the idea to "keep moving forward" are both great lessons for all of us. If you haven't seen it, see it. If you have, see it again.

I've used technology for "the little things", which, has helped avoid having to deal with "big things"--namely, being late or overwhelmed.
I tend to think that most everywhere close by takes 15 minutes. I don't include time for obstacles that may get in the way. Since I haven't outgrown this habit, I set the alarm on my iPhone to show that my appointments and to-do's are 30-60 minutes earlier. And, voila! I'm early and on time.
Another handy item on my smart phone is the simple Notes application. If I need to journal a particular event, situation, experience, but don't have my journal with me, I'll use the notes section. I can process what I'm feeling in the moment (or what is getting in the way of my staying in the moment).
I've also had to set aside time to read "the newspaper" (translated: reading blogs, FB posts, etc. at a given time) and turning off as many FB notifications as possible.
I assume that my friends know how to reach me in the event of an emergency. (Then again, a friend cancelled her ride to the hospital via FB...)
