Counseling & Psychotherapy
For a 45-50 minute office session, my fee is $120. For longer sessions, fees are prorated accordingly ($180 for an 75-minute session, $240 for a 100-minute session). I accept cash, checks and credit cards for payment. I am not currently offering a sliding scale or payment plans.
For clients who are unable to attend sessions in my office, but still have a permanent residence in California, I provide services via telephone or online (i.e. Skype) at the same fee as office sessions.
Consultation
If you think therapy might be for you but aren’t quite sure, I encourage you to request a phone consultation. This is a 15-20 minute call with me which will give you a chance to ask any questions that you have and let me know about why you are seeking help. I’ll also let you know how I would approach working with you and helping with the specifics of your situation.
Please use my contact form to request a consultation.
Insurance
I do not take or bill insurance at this time. However, if you have a PPO, my services may be partially covered, and I can provide you with a monthly statement of services which you can submit for reimbursement. Be sure to check with your insurance company about mental health coverage for ‘out of network’ providers. In addition, if you have an HSA and an associated card with a Visa or MasterCard logo, you may be able to use that account to pay for our sessions.
Using your insurance to pay for therapy has benefits and risks. While it can certainly lower the cost of services, it typically will require me to assign a mental health diagnosis to you. This is something that will become a part of your medical record, and can impact your ability to obtain health and life insurance in the future, among other things. Another note: many insurance plans state that they cover couples counseling, but often they do this by requiring a diagnosis to be assigned to one member of the couple.
