Fees & Services

Office sessions
For a 50-minute office session, my fee is $120. For longer sessions, fees are prorated accordingly.

Telephone sessions
I am now offering 30-minute 'flash' sessions for $75. These are held online or via telephone, and are different than office sessions - more like coaching than therapy. They are suitable for clients who:
  • would like a more structured approach to therapy
  • are looking for support on a specific, current issue or problem
  • who would like weekly sessions, but are unable to commit the time required for coming to my office for an hour each week
I also provide 'traditional' therapy sessions online and via telephone at the same fee as office sessions.

I prefer credit cards (Visa & Mastercard) for payment, but cash and checks are also accepted.

Consultation options

If you think therapy might be for you, but aren't quite sure, I understand, and I'm happy to try and help with that decision, either with a telephone consultation or a no-risk initial session.

A
telephone consultation is a 15-20 minute call, designed to provide a chance for you to ask any questions that you have for me and to discuss how I would approach helping you with your particular concerns.

The
no-risk initial session is just like a standard intake session. If, after that session, you decide not to schedule additional appointments, there is no charge for the session. If you do decide to continue, then you would pay for the initial session as well as any future sessions.

Insurance

I do not take or bill insurance directly, though my services may be covered - it depends on the specifics of your plan. If your insurance company reimburses for services from ‘out of network’ providers, I’m happy to provide you with a monthly statement that you can submit to them for reimbursement.

Pros & Cons of Insurance
Using your insurance to pay for therapy has benefits and risks. While it can certainly lower the cost of services, it typically will require me to assign a mental health diagnosis, which will become a part of your medical record and can impact your ability to obtain health insurance or life insurance in the future. While many insurance plans state that they cover couples/marriage counseling, often the way they cover it is by requiring a mental health diagnosis to be assigned to one of the individuals in the couple.
